There are three seperate components within a speaker that derive low, medium and high frequencies. The woofer is a large speaker which will reproduce the lower frequencies. The mid speaker, reproduces medium frequencies and the tweeter reproduce and controls the higher sounds. When you buy car audio speakers, you may be actually buying a 'package' of speakers, encompassing some or all of the above, or you could purchase them seperately.
